With over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur, Tamara has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise that she is passionate about sharing with others.
Tamara’s journey began with her first “big girl” solo business, a brick-and-mortar shop in NYC, which she opened before the days of Instagram and when Facebook was only for the elite Ivey league crowd. As a business owner, she wore many hats, from buyer and marketer to website designer, photographer, clothes steamer, window display zhuzher, cashier, content writer, and more! Through her experiences, she gained unexpected schooling in entrepreneurship and developed a deep understanding of the struggles faced by small business owners.
Although Tamara is a self-proclaimed serial entrepreneur, she decided to focus on her passion for photography in 2009 and has grown her business, Tamara Gibson Photography, to now include two subdivisions: The Velvet Oak, which services lifestyle clients nationally, and Querencia Creative, her national commercial team. Despite facing many challenges over the years, including name changes, recession, changing markets, and even a pandemic, she has stayed the course and grown her business to new heights. Her work has been featured in Vogue online and Billboard magazine. In addition, she continues to expand into new domestic and overseas markets.
Through her journey, Tamara has developed a big heart for other creative entrepreneurs and small business owners. She believes in being a champion for others and sharing the lessons she has learned along the way. As a 2023 Fellowship for Change Mentor and partner with WeddingPro’s mentoring initiative, she is excited to share her experiences with others and spark new ideas and thoughts.
